Frequently Asked Questions — Quincy, MA
How is mobilisation quoted, and does service area matter?
Dredging is quoted as a daily crew/spread rate plus a separate mobilisation charge to bring the equipment, dive spread, and crew to Quincy, MA. Mobilisation covers setup and transport, so a project farther from our base may have a higher mobilisation line even if the daily rate looks the same. Ask about mobilisation before comparing bids.
How far ahead should we schedule, and who gets the permits?
Scheduling depends on weather windows, equipment availability, and permit timing. We will work with your timeline, but you should plan for several weeks to months of lead time in Quincy, MA. Typically the owner or their engineer obtains federal/state dredging permits, but we can provide supporting documents and coordinate with regulators.
How is dredging priced for a marina or waterfront project?
Commercial dredging is usually quoted as a day-rate for the dive crew and spread, plus a separate mobilisation charge. For inspection or survey work, pricing may be per structure or per linear foot. Unit prices (per cubic yard removed) are sometimes used, but the mobilisation line is the most common source of apparent price gaps between bids.
What do we get as a report or deliverable after the dredge?
Standard deliverables include pre- and post-dredge bathymetric surveys, volumes of material removed, diver logs, and underwater video. We format the report for your engineer, grant project, or permit compliance. Ask what survey data is included, since post-dredge surveys are sometimes priced separately.
